FOOTBALL HARLOW-based charity St Clare's Hospice had an extra reason to join in the cheer at Barrows Farm during the season finale.
Generous Harlow Town players made a donation to their cause before Saturday's clash with East Thurrock United, in exchange for being able to choose their kit for the final game of the season.
Player-boss Ryan Kirby conducted a poll amongst playing staff at the final training session last Thursday evening, with the majority of players electing to wear the club's all-white away strip for the match.
Every player who cast a vote made a monetary donation, with the takings being rounded up and presented to representatives of St Clares, who were present at the stadium.
Supporters were also given the chance to chip in, with collection boxes doing the rounds before the match and at half time.
"Every player has made a donation to a worthy cause, which is a credit to Harlow Town Football Club," said Hawks vice-chairman Simon Morgan.
"I've personally gone to lengths to aid St Clares Hospice before, and I wish for the club to get more involved with supporting their cause in the coming months."
