RUGBY

HARLOW Rugby Club's Francis Brown has been asked to join the India national team at their training camp prior to the Asian Five Nations Tournament.

Francis, a specialist full back but with experience of other positions in the backs, has already represented India nine times.

Now he hopes to clinch selection and win his tenth cap during the tournament, which is scheduled to be played in Bangkok from June 10-15.

The training camp, in Mumbai, will begin on May 19 and the squad will be working under the guidance of their new Fijian coach, recently appointed by the Indian RFU, right up until the team departs for the tournament.

In India, rugby is a fast developing sport and their RFU are committed to extending their existing success while the IRFU chief executive officer Kiwi Greg Davey is determined to take Indian rugby forward.

They have invited five players from overseas who have Indian qualifications to be part of the team - Brown being one of them.
