FRONTLINE uniformed police officers and police community support officers in the county are sporting a new look.
Instead of the traditional collared shirt and tie, the officers are now wearing a zip-neck shirt made from a breathable, lightweight fabric designed to draw heat away from the body, which is particularly important for officers when wearing their protective vest.
Head of Operational Support with Hertfordshire Constabulary, Chief Superintendent Steve Ottway, said: "People should be aware that their local officers and PCSOs will have a slightly different look when they're out and about.

"We welcome any measure which allows our officers to do their jobs to the best of their ability, especially after seeing the benefits other forces have experienced with these new shirts."
He added: "We've had a really positive response from the staff who have trialed the shirts, who have said that they are much more comfortable and have a modern look and feel to them. The fact that they are easy to wash and don't require ironing has also been well received!"
The new shirts are being worn by all officers who go out on patrol, including traffic officers, neighbourhood officers, and all PCSOs. All other officers will continue to wear the traditional collared shirt and black tie. The new shirts are cheaper than the traditional uniform.
