MOTORISTS are being warned not to give lifts to strangers following an incident in Harlow.

Two women were given a lift by a Harlow man, aged in his 50s, when they flagged him down as he drove alone in slow traffic in Fifth Avenue, in Harlow, at 4.50pm on March 25. Details of the incident have only just been released by police.

The women told him they had broken down and he gave them a lift to The Hides underpass.

He later discovered that his Sony Ericsson mobile phone was missing.

One of the women was aged 20 to 25, with blonde hair cut in a bob style. The other woman was aged 25 to 30, of tanned complexion and shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with any information should ring Harlow Police Station on 01279 625460, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
