EAST of England Minister Barbara Follett learnt about redevelopment plans for The Stow area of Harlow when she visited the town and met councillor Sean Folan and MP Bill Rammell.
The visit of the Stevenage MP coincided with plans currently under review to regenerate The Stow shopping area.
Councillors and local stakeholders have expressed a desire to bring a large supermarket into the heart of The Stow, providing an impetus for regeneration.
Mr Rammell said: "The regeneration of The Stow is long overdue. A large supermarket would bring with it the other necessary physical improvements to the shopping area."
Mr Folan said: "I've been working with officers to bring together the stakeholders to talk about bringing the proposed supermarket into the heart of The Stow. It's vital that investment in The Stow is felt by both shoppers and shopkeepers."
