HARLOW: Extra seats for train passengers

COMMUTERS are set to get a boost with the introduction of thousands of extra seats to ease overcrowding on trains.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has said up to 188 extra carriages will be introduced on the National Express East Anglia (NEAE) rail network to bolster services.

The rail operator runs express services from London Liverpool Street to Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding counties, and has stations in Roydon and Harlow Town.

Andrew Chivers, managing director for NEAE - formerly 'One' railway - welcomed the DfT proposals, and said: "We look forward to working with them to formalize the plans that will enable us to secure additional carriages and offer a better service to our passengers."
