ATHLETICS
EIGHT Bishop's Stortford Running Club members competed in the Oakley 20-Mile race near Bedford on Sunday.
In wet and windy conditions, Steve Prosser was first home for the club in a time of 2hrs 27mins 47secs.
He was followed by Chris Brolly (2hrs 44mins 55secs), Ian Rodgers (2hrs 46mins 28secs), and Ian McClymont who recorded a personal best time of 2hrs 50mins 6secs.
Lorraine Evans was first lady home for the club, finishing in a personal best time of 2hrs 54mins 30secs.
Joanne Hewitt (3hrs 12mins 30secs), Eleanor Cowan (3hrs 13mins 38secs), Sarah Croot (3hrs 15mins 35secs) and Louise Baker (3hrs 32mins 22secs) gave good team support.
Hilary Evans and Jonathon Brown raced in the Hastings Half-Marathon, recording times of in 2hrs 49mins 28secs and 1hr 22mins 30secs respectively.
Meanwhile, club member Alasdair Bruce was taking part in his first adventure race of the year with Team Accelerate.
Grindleford in the Peak District was the location for the Skins 'Six in the Peak' - the second in a series of six hour adventure races.
Bruce and racing partner Adam Marcinowitz finished the event - which includes the three disciplines of orienteering, mountain biking and running - nine seconds over time to pick up one penalty point and finish on 316 points.
Despite some misgivings about their navigation and route choice, they secured first place in the male pair category.
