After climbing to fame as a guest vocalist with Zero 7, Australian songbird Sia Furler brings her UK tour to the Shepherd's Bush Empire to showcase brand new tracks from her latest album 'Some People Have Real Problems'.
Scottish singer/songwriter 21 year-old Amy Macdonald is at the Roundhouse, while Salford duo The Ting Tings play from their number one debut album 'We Started Nothing' at the Forum tonight and tomorrow.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10
Further Than Tomorrow sees nine acts including Chris Difford, James Walsh of Starsailor, Passenger, Vasco and Kathryn Williams & Neill Maccoll come together at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire to pay tribute to Plymouth-born singer/songwriter Matthew Jay on what would have been his 30th birthday had he not died in unexplained circumstances five years ago.
At The Luminaire is singer/songwriter and harmonica player Chris Garneau who mixes folk, pop, baroque and carnival music, with support from one-man lo-fi experimentalist Banjo Or Freakout and Sleaford Mods.
Dresden Dolls lead singer, pianist and lyricist/composer Amanda Palmer performs at Koko, while at ULU are eclectic band Cajun Dance Party.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11
Recent Mercury Music Prize winners Elbow play from their celebrated fourth studio album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' at the Roundhouse tonight and tomorrow with an extra date on Monday due to demand.
International festival promoters All Tomorrow's Parties host a series of gigs across London including indie band Calexico at the Forum and Brooklyn based experimental music group Gang Gang Dance at ULU.
German model, actress, singer, Velvet Underground collaborator and Andy Warhol protege Christa Paffgen, known to the world simply as Nico, died 20 years ago at the age of 49. Her life is celebrated at the Southbank Centre by Mark Lanegan, Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Broadcast and others.
