SAWBRIDGEWORTH: Walking friends race cancer cash

9:57am Wednesday 14th May 2008

By David Jackman »

THREE friends have returned home to Sawbridgeworth after completing their Wainwright's Coast to Coast challenge and hopefully raising about £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Steve Perry's late friend and colleague was treated at home by Macmillan nurses and he specified that instead of flowers at his funeral he wanted people to donate to Macmillan.

The walk, which also involved Steve's friends Andy and Mark Sapsford, was his fundraising response.

Donations can still be made by sending contributions to Macmillan Cancer Support, 12 Prospect Place, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, AL6 9EN, marked 'Coast to Coast'.

The charity's Hertfordshire community fundraiser, Kerry Briars, said: "It's fantastic that members of the public feel so strongly about Macmillan and help in such brilliant ways. This money will really make a difference to posts and services we are currently funding in Hertfordshire."
