Dimitar Berbatov

SPURS boss Juande Ramos is preparing to roll up his sleeves in his fight to keep Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane this summer.

The 27-year-old Bulgarian has been a massive hit at the north London club since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in a reported £10.9million deal in 2006.

But that has only severed to attract the interest of some of Europe's biggest clubs, with teams like Manchester United and AC Milan continually being linked with the striker.

And Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev didn't help to quell the rumours last week, when he revealed that his client would welcome any offer from Milan.

"Milan is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and if there was interest we would discuss it with Dimitar," Dantchev told setantasports.com.

"At the moment Dimitar is concentrating on doing his job with Tottenham. There is plenty of time until the transfer window.

"He is happy. But what I know from my 25 years in football is that if a player is happy somewhere, it does not mean he cannot be happy somewhere else."

But Spanish coach Ramos isn't prepared to let his leading striker leave without a fight.

"There are many big clubs that want to sign him; he deserves it (the interest) because he is a great footballer," he said on Sky Sports News "We want him to keep on playing for Tottenham, but we understand that he is an ambitious player."
